Evaluation, implementation and translation
Lead: Dr Brenda Gannon
The evaluation of care pathways within the integrated health and social care systems, for people with dementia and early cognitive decline, alongside their comorbidities, is critical to ensuring resource allocation mechanisms are appropriately implemented and translated into patient benefit.
Our research, in collaboration with healthcare providers and commissioners, identifies these pathways and provides robust evaluation to determine the most cost-effective care pathway that will contribute to less reliance on secondary care and improve quality of life for patients and their carers.
Within Greater Manchester and the context of devolution of its Health and Social Care budget, integrated health care records provide a unique setting to test variation in care pathways, to inform implementation and translation of research for patient benefit.
